Data Deletion
Last updated: 13 October 2026
Janemoney gives users a way to request deletion of their account and associated personal information. This page explains how to submit a request, what information may be covered, and what happens when you disconnect a connected account.
1. How to request deletion
The quickest way is to message Jane on WhatsApp, from the number you use with Jane, saying “delete my data”.
You can also email us, including the WhatsApp number you used:
Use the subject line “Account and Data Deletion Request” and state that you want your Janemoney account deleted.
You do not need to include your password, OTP, authentication token, or complete financial documents in your request.
We may ask for reasonable information to verify your identity or confirm that you control the account. This helps protect accounts against unauthorised deletion requests.
2. What information may be deleted
Depending on the information associated with your account and the applicable retention requirements, a deletion request may cover:
- Account and profile information.
- Conversations and chat history with Jane.
- Financial documents you uploaded.
- Financial information stored by Janemoney from connected services.
- Financial insights, summaries, and other information derived from your data.
- Stored integration information, including Google authorisation tokens where applicable.
- Other personal information associated with your account that is eligible for deletion.
The information held about you depends on the features you have used and the integrations you have connected.
3. Disconnecting a connected account
Disconnecting a service and deleting your Janemoney data are separate actions.
If you connected Google or Gmail, you can revoke Janemoney's access through the relevant Google account permissions. Once revocation takes effect, Janemoney should no longer be able to access information through that authorisation.
Revoking access does not automatically remove information previously received or stored by Janemoney. If you want that information deleted, submit a separate deletion request.
The same principle applies to other connected financial services. You may need to manage permissions or consent directly with the relevant provider as well.
4. What happens after you submit a request
After receiving a deletion request, we will:
- Review the request and verify account ownership where reasonably necessary.
- Identify the account and relevant information covered by the request.
- Process deletion across the applicable systems in accordance with our deletion procedures.
- Handle information held by service providers according to applicable processing arrangements.
- Retain only information that must or may lawfully be retained for a permitted purpose.
We will complete deletion within 30 days of your request and confirm when it is done.
We will handle requests in accordance with applicable law. We do not promise that all information will be removed instantly from every system, service provider, log, or backup.
5. Backups, logs, and legally required retention
Some information may remain temporarily in backups, security logs, or other systems while it follows the applicable retention and deletion process.
Certain records may also need to be retained where required by law or where a specific retention exception applies. Any retained information remains subject to the applicable purpose and legal requirements.
We do not treat a deletion request as permission to retain information indefinitely. Information should be removed when it is no longer required to be retained under the relevant process and applicable law.
6. Information processed by third-party providers
Janemoney uses a cloud hosting provider, with servers in India, for infrastructure and storage. AI features run on Janemoney's own in-house models, so information is not sent to third-party AI providers.
Information may be subject to the deletion and retention procedures of the relevant provider. When a deletion request covers information processed by a provider, handling depends on the applicable service, technical arrangements, contractual obligations, and legal requirements.
Information obtained through Google APIs is also subject to Google's applicable user-data policies.
7. Will deleting my account revoke Google access?
Account deletion and Google authorisation revocation should be treated as separate controls.
If you want to stop future Google access, revoke Janemoney's authorisation through your Google account permissions or use the available disconnect control.
If you also want previously obtained information removed from Janemoney, submit an account and data deletion request using the contact details on this page.
8. Can I use Janemoney again after deletion?
Deleting your account is intended to end your existing account relationship with Janemoney. If you later wish to use the service again, you may need to create a new account and provide any required permissions again.
Deleting an account does not necessarily remove records that must lawfully be retained. Any retained information remains subject to the applicable retention requirements.
