Privacy Policy

Effective date: 12 October 2026 · Last updated: 13 October 2026

Janemoney ("Jane," "we," "us," or "our") provides personal finance tools that help users understand financial information, analyse their finances, and explore financial decisions. Jane is an AI assistant you chat with on WhatsApp.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and delete personal information when you use Janemoney, including when you connect third-party accounts, provide financial documents, or interact with our AI assistant. See also our Terms of Service.

By using Janemoney, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy. Where applicable law or our product requires consent for a particular use of your information, we will request that consent separately. This policy does not replace any consent or disclosure presented within the product.

1. Information we collect

The information we collect depends on the features you choose to use.

1.1 Information you provide

We may collect information you enter, upload, or send to Janemoney, including:

Please do not provide information that is unnecessary for the feature you are using.

1.2 Google account and Gmail information

If you choose to connect your Google account, you do so on Google's own sign-in page; we never see your Google password. Janemoney receives the email address of the account you authorise and read-only access to your Gmail (the gmail.readonly permission). Janemoney cannot send, delete, or change your email.

If you authorise Gmail access, Janemoney searches your Gmail for financial documents and transaction-related information, such as bills, bank and credit-card statements, payment receipts, broker contract notes, and tax documents, and extracts the relevant financial information to answer your questions, track bills and due dates, and set reminders you ask for. This involves accessing email message content, including full message bodies, and related information such as sender, subject, date, and the names of attachments.

Jane reads your email only while answering a request from you, or for a reminder you asked Jane to set up. We do not copy your whole mailbox. We store an encrypted access token for your Google account, and the parts of emails that Jane used in a reply become part of your conversation history.

We use this information only for the specific features disclosed to you and authorised by you. Connecting Google does not, by itself, mean that you have authorised every possible use of your Google data.

1.3 Information from connected financial services

When you choose to connect a supported financial service, Janemoney may receive information made available through that service and the permissions you grant. Depending on the integration, this may include investment holdings, transaction records, portfolio information, or account data.

For example, if you connect Zerodha through Zerodha's own login page, Janemoney can read your holdings and positions, and places an order only after you confirm it in the chat. We never see your Zerodha password. The precise information available depends on the integration, the consent or permissions granted, and the feature you use.

The connected provider may separately collect and process information under its own privacy policy and terms.

1.4 Information collected automatically

When you use Janemoney, our systems may process technical and operational information needed to run and protect the service, such as IP address and browser information when you open one of our web pages, timestamps, authentication events, diagnostic information, and security logs.

2. How we use your information

We use information for the following purposes, where the relevant feature is available and the processing is permitted:

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising. We will not use information for a materially different purpose without providing any notice or obtaining any consent required by applicable law and relevant platform policies.

3. How AI processing works

Janemoney uses AI technology to respond to prompts and analyse information for user-facing financial features.

Information you enter or send, including financial information and documents, is processed by Janemoney's own in-house AI models, running on our own servers, to generate the requested response or analysis. This includes the content of any emails Jane reads from your connected Gmail account, so Jane can answer your request.

We use in-house open-weights models. We do not send your information, including Google user data, to any third-party AI service or API. We do not use any personal data, including Google user data, to train our models. We aim to process only information needed for the relevant feature.

AI-generated responses can contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. You should verify important financial or tax information against relevant records and qualified professionals before acting on it.

4. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We do not permit Google user data obtained through Google APIs to be sold or used for advertising. We share or transmit information only in the following circumstances:

4.1 Infrastructure and service providers

We use service providers to run Janemoney: a messaging platform (WhatsApp) that delivers messages between you and Jane, and a cloud hosting provider that runs our servers and stores our data in India. They process information only to provide their services to us.

4.2 Connected services

When you choose to connect Google, Zerodha, or another supported provider, information may move between Janemoney and that provider as necessary to deliver the feature you request and within the permissions and consent you grant. Each provider may independently process information under its own terms and privacy policy.

4.3 Legal, security, and business requirements

We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal process, protect users or the service, investigate suspected fraud or security incidents, or establish and defend legal claims.

If Janemoney undergoes a merger, acquisition, or transfer of business assets, personal information may be involved in that transaction only subject to applicable law and any required notice or consent. Google user data remains subject to Google's specific transfer restrictions.

We do not authorise third parties to use Google user data for advertising, creditworthiness determinations, or other uses prohibited by Google's policies.

5. Google user data and Limited Use

Janemoney's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Information obtained through Google APIs is used only to provide and improve the user-facing features described in Section 1.2. It is transferred to others only as needed to provide those features (Jane's AI processing runs on our own in-house models and does not send it to third-party AI services, as described in Section 3), to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition with your consent where required.

No person at Janemoney reads your Google user data unless you give us your consent to read specific messages (for example for support), it is necessary for security purposes such as investigating abuse, or it is required to comply with applicable law.

We do not use Google user data to serve advertising, sell it to data brokers or others, or determine creditworthiness or lending eligibility. We do not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalised AI or machine-learning models.

You can disconnect Google at any time by telling Jane "disconnect Gmail" on WhatsApp, or by removing Janemoney from your Google account permissions. When you disconnect through Jane, we revoke the authorisation with Google and delete the stored token straight away. If you remove access from Google instead, we delete the token the next time Jane finds it no longer works. Disconnecting does not by itself delete email content already in your conversation history; see Section 8.

6. Storage and security

Janemoney's servers and data are hosted with a cloud provider in India. Information is stored in databases and files on access-restricted servers and may also be processed temporarily in application memory or logs where required for the service.

All connections to our web pages and to connected providers are encrypted (HTTPS). Google access tokens are stored encrypted. Access to our servers is limited to the people who operate the service.

No online service can guarantee absolute security.

7. How long we retain information

We keep your conversation history and connected-account data for as long as you use Janemoney, and delete it when you ask us to (see Section 8). Google and Zerodha tokens are deleted when you disconnect the integration. Operational logs are kept for a limited period for troubleshooting and security.

Some information may remain for a limited time in backups or logs after deletion, until those are replaced or expire.

8. Your choices, access, and deletion rights

You can:

Disconnecting Google

Disconnecting Google or revoking an authorisation prevents further access through that authorisation once revocation takes effect. It does not automatically delete information Jane already used in your conversation history; you can ask us to delete that as described below.

Deleting your data

To delete your data, message Jane on WhatsApp saying “delete my data”, or email abhishek@janemoney.in including the WhatsApp number you used. We may verify the request where reasonably necessary. Within 30 days we will delete your conversation history, documents, any stored Google or Zerodha tokens, and other personal information that is eligible for deletion, and confirm when it's done. See our Data Deletion page for details.

Some information may remain temporarily in backups or security logs, or where we are legally required to retain it. That information is kept only for the relevant purpose.

Other privacy requests

You may contact us to ask about the information we hold, request a correction, raise an objection, or exercise other rights available under applicable law. We will respond in accordance with the law that applies to your request.

9. Children's privacy

Janemoney is intended only for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect children's personal data. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so that we can review the situation and delete it.

10. International processing

Our servers are in India. Some of our service providers may process information in other countries. Any such transfer is handled in accordance with applicable law.

11. Third-party services

Janemoney may link to or integrate with services operated by other organisations. Those services have their own terms, privacy policies, security practices, and account controls. We do not control the independent privacy practices of third-party services. Review their policies before connecting an account or sharing information with them.

12. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Janemoney's features, data practices, legal obligations, or service providers change. We will update the "Last updated" date when changes are made. Where required by law or applicable platform policies, we will provide additional notice and obtain consent before using information for a new or materially different purpose.
