Google Data Use Disclosure

Janemoney uses Google authorisation to let users connect supported Google services and access information needed for selected personal finance features. This page explains how Janemoney handles information obtained through Google APIs.

Janemoney's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

1. Why Janemoney requests Google access

Janemoney is a personal finance assistant designed to help users understand their finances.

If you choose to connect Gmail, Janemoney's financial information feature can search for emails relevant to your finances, identify information such as financial documents or transaction-related details, and present extracted information and insights within Janemoney.

You are not required to connect Gmail to use features that do not depend on Gmail access.

2. What Google data we access

The information accessed depends on the permissions you grant and the feature you use.

Google account information

When you connect your Google account, Janemoney may receive basic account information required to establish and manage the connection, such as your authorised email address and profile information.

Gmail information

When you authorise Gmail access, Janemoney may access email message content, including full message bodies, to identify relevant financial information. Depending on the feature, related information may include sender details, subject lines, dates, and relevant financial content contained in messages.

The purpose of this access is to help you find financial information in your email and use it within Janemoney's personal finance features.

Granting Gmail access does not mean Janemoney has unrestricted permission to use your information for unrelated purposes.

3. How we use Google user data

Janemoney uses Google user data for user-facing features that you choose to use, including:

We do not sell Google user data or use it for advertising. We do not use Google user data for creditworthiness or lending-eligibility determinations.

We do not use Google user data to train or improve AI or machine learning models.

4. How Google user data is processed

Google user data is processed to provide the feature you request and for other purposes permitted by applicable Google policies.

Janemoney uses a cloud hosting provider, with servers in India, for infrastructure and storage. When Jane reads an email to answer your request, the relevant email content is processed by Janemoney's own in-house open-weights AI models on our own servers to generate the response. It is not sent to any third-party AI service or API. This processing is limited to providing the feature you requested. Janemoney does not use Google user data, or any other personal data, to train AI models.

Google user data is not authorised for unrelated processing merely because a user has connected an account.

5. Sharing and disclosure of Google user data

We do not sell Google user data.

We may use infrastructure and service providers to operate Janemoney, but Google user data may be shared with another party only where the transfer and subsequent use are permitted by applicable Google policies and are consistent with the purposes disclosed to you.

We do not permit Google user data to be used for advertising or sold to data brokers. We do not disclose it to third parties for unrelated purposes.

Any access required for security investigations, legal compliance, or user-requested support must comply with applicable Google policies and legal requirements.

6. Storage and retention

Janemoney uses a cloud hosting provider, with servers in India, for infrastructure and storage. Information may be processed temporarily or stored persistently, depending on the feature and the systems involved.

Google user data is retained only as permitted by applicable Google policies and as necessary for the disclosed feature, subject to applicable legal requirements. Different data stores, operational logs, and backups may have different retention and deletion processes.

Janemoney does not promise immediate removal of every copy from all systems or backups. Deletion requests are handled through the applicable deletion process.

7. Disconnecting Google access

You can stop using the Google integration by disconnecting your account or revoking the authorisation granted to Janemoney.

Once revocation takes effect, Janemoney should no longer be able to access Google data through that authorisation.

Disconnecting Google access does not automatically delete Google data that Janemoney has already received or stored. To request deletion of stored information, contact us using the details below or follow the account deletion process described in our Data Deletion page.

8. Requesting deletion of your information

You may request deletion of your Janemoney account and associated personal information, including information obtained through connected services, subject to applicable law and permitted retention requirements.

To make a request, message Jane on WhatsApp saying “delete my data”, or email abhishek@janemoney.in with the WhatsApp number you used. We will complete deletion within 30 days and confirm when it is done.

We may need to verify your request before processing it. Information subject to a valid legal retention requirement, or information that remains temporarily in backups or logs under the applicable retention process, may not be removed immediately.

9. Google's policies

Our use of information received from Google APIs is governed by the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements, and other applicable Google policies.
