What is ‘RAZ* / RAZORPAY’ on my bank statement?

A charge marked RAZ or Razorpay is a payment processed through Razorpay's payment gateway. Razorpay did not charge you directly; a merchant, website, or app that uses their system billed your account.

What it is

Razorpay is a payment gateway that facilitates online and in-store payments for merchants, websites, and apps.

Who charged you

A merchant or seller that uses Razorpay's payment gateway to facilitate payments.

How to find out what it was

  1. Check the Order ID shared by the merchant or the Payment ID shared by Razorpay (in the format pay_xxxxxxxxxx).

Is it recurring? How to stop it

This is often a recurring debit, so expect it again unless it is stopped.

  1. Contact the merchant directly via the 'Contact Us' section on their website, providing the transaction date, transaction amount, merchant Order ID, Razorpay Payment ID, and problem description.
  2. If the merchant fails to respond within 3 to 5 working days, raise a support ticket on the Razorpay website including transaction details and screenshots of your communication with the merchant.
  3. Route queries regarding full or partial order cancellations directly to the merchant following their return and cancellation policy.

Think this charge is fraud?

  1. Block it now in your bank app: freeze the card, or turn off the UPI ID or mandate that was used.
  2. Tell your bank straight away, through the app, net banking or its customer care, so the transaction is on record.
  3. Report the fraud: call the national cyber fraud helpline 1930, or file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in.

Questions people ask

Why do I see RAZ or Razorpay on my bank statement?

You paid a merchant, website, or app that uses Razorpay to collect payments. To find out who billed you, search your email or SMS for the merchant Order ID or a Razorpay Payment ID in the format pay_xxxxxxxxxx.

Will this charge repeat?

It can. Razorpay processes recurring payments, so this entry may be tied to an ongoing subscription or mandate. Check your bank app or UPI app to see if an active mandate is scheduled on your account.

Is a RAZ transaction fraudulent?

Not usually. Most RAZ entries are legitimate orders placed with an online store or service provider. Check your recent orders, bank app notifications, and email receipts for matching timestamps and payment IDs before assuming fraud.

How do I stop or dispute this charge?

Contact the merchant directly through the Contact Us page on their website. Provide the transaction date, amount, merchant Order ID, Razorpay Payment ID, and the issue. If the merchant does not respond within 3 to 5 working days, raise a support ticket on the Razorpay website with screenshots of your communication.

Can I get a refund for a Razorpay transaction?

Refunds must be requested directly from the merchant under their cancellation policy. Once initiated, or if your order failed to generate at checkout, the money takes 5 to 7 business days to reach your bank account. For missing orders, wait 1 business day for digital items and 7 to 10 business days for physical goods before opening a dispute.
